Capture

Use Keyboard Express to capture keystrokes as they are typed and assign them to a hotkey, shortkey or schedule. The steps for capturing keystrokes are as follows:

1.Click on the Capture button in the Actions bar of the Keyboard Express - Explorer. Or click on Macro > Capture Macro from the menu.

2.Select a hotkey, shortkey or schedule from the available list in the Create New Macro window.

3.Enter a macro nickname to serve as a reminder of what the macro does.

4.Click OK to open the Capture a Macro window as shown below.

5.Optionally select the Capture Double Alt feature (see below).

6.Press the Capture  button and record the keystrokes in the application that is open.

7.When finished capturing, press the hotkey previously selected or right mouse click on the recording icon. Confirmation is given that the capture is finished.

Note: Certain keys are ignored by Keyboard Express and are not captured. These include keys such as "Print Screen", "Scroll Lock", "Pause", "Num Lock", "Caps Lock" and a few others which may appear on specialized keyboards. Function keys, arrow keys, page up, home, etc. are all supported.

When ALT key is pressed, capture it twice
This feature instructs Keyboard Express to capture 2 Alts (<ALT><ALT>) whenever the alt key is pressed during the capture. This may be necessary in some applications if the sequence will be capturing menu commands invoked using the ALT key. A double ALT will ensure that the menu command is played back correctly.
